Joel E. Boyd

Joel E. Boyd has practiced law in Brevard County since 1978, primarily in the areas of estate planning and administration, business law and transactions, real estate transactions, and tax planning.

Mr. Boyd, a graduate of Melbourne High School, received his undergraduate degree from Duke University (B.A. 1973, with honors). He received his law degree (J.D. 1976, with honors) and his master of laws in taxation (L.L.M. in Taxation, 1977) from the College of Law at the University of Florida. Mr. Boyd is the recipient of the highest rating (AV) from the Martindale-Hubbell legal rating service. Prior to entering the legal profession, he worked for the National Tax Department of Ernst & Young in Washington, D.C.

In addition to his active legal practice, Mr. Boyd has also achieved an extensive record of community and civic involvement over his career: Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors - 12 years; 2009 Chair); Business Voice of Florida’s Space Coast (Board of Directors, President); We Help Brevard (Board of Directors); United Way of Brevard (Legal Counsel, Planned Giving Committee); Brevard Museum of Arts and Science (Board of Trustees, President, Foundation President); Florida Tech (Business School Board of Overseers); Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy (Board of Trustees); South Beaches Basketball Association (Board of Directors, President, Coach); Community Foundation for Brevard (Board of Directors, President); Keep Brevard Beautiful (Board of Directors, President); The Florida Bar; Brevard County Bar Association; and Brevard County Estate Planning Council. Joel received the Melbourne Regional Chamber’s 2020 William R. “Bill” Ellis Legacy Award in recognition of his achievements as a local community leader.
